Q. Where can I purchase NESI products?

A. NESI does not sell directly to the consumer. We sell our products to distributors, re-sellers, and the value-added markets. Our products are often sold by local computer retailers and at computer show and sales. If you would like to become an NESI dealer call us at 215-442-1320 or send an email message to sales@nesi-fdd.com.

Q. What is the warranty on NESI drives?

A. See our Warranty policy for product warranty information. For warranty service, the drive should be returned to the dealer from whom it was purchased.

Q. Where can I get additional support for NESI drives?

A. You will need to contact the re-seller or distributor for all support, warranty, drivers and information concerning this product. If your drive came pre-installed in your PC, contact the PC manufacturer. If the drive was purchased as an individual unit, contact the distributor or re-seller of the device.

Floppy Disk Drives and Card Readers      Back to Top

Q. The floppy drive’s LED stays lit all the time. What’s wrong?

A. The ribbon cable being on backward or upside down usually causes this problem. Check your ribbon cable connection to be sure the red stripe on the cable is toward pin 1 on both the drive and the controller card or motherboard interface. On our floppy drives pin 1 is always toward the center of the drive.

Q. What does “floppy disk fail (40)” error mean?

A. This message is sometimes displayed when the floppy disk drive fails the Power On Self Test (POST). Check the floppy disk drive ribbon cable and power cable connections. Disconnect and reconnect the cables to be sure you have a good connection. If the problem persists contact the vendor for a replacement drive.

Q. Why won’t my computer boot from a floppy disk?

A. Several things can cause this problem.
1. Be sure that you are using a bootable floppy disk.
2. Be sure that the floppy disk drive is enabled in the BIOS setup and is set as the first boot device in the BIOS setup’s boot sequence.
3. Check the floppy disk drive ribbon cable and power cable connections. Disconnect and reconnect the cables to be sure you have a good connection.

Q. Where can I get drivers for my NESI USB Card Reader or USB floppy drive?

A. NESI recommends that you upgrade your Windows 2000 to SP4 and Windows XP to SP2. Windows ME, Windows 2000 SP4, Windows XP SP2 and Mac OS X 10.1.2 or higher do not require any unigue USB or Mass Storage Device drivers.
Drivers which improve the functionality of the interface for Windows 2000/XP and Mac OS X are available. You can get drivers for most other Windows and Mac Operating Systems.

CD-ROM, DVD-ROM, CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW Drives      Back to Top

Q. Where can I get drivers for my NESI ATAPI CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM or DVD-R/RW drives?

A. NESI’s ATAPI CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM, and DVD-R/RW drives do not require any unique device drivers for Windows '95/'98/ME/2000/NT or XP. After installing your drive and re-booting, your system should recognize your CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM or DVD-R/RW drive. Win '95/'98/ME/2000/NT and XP Operating Systems support all NESI’s ATAPI CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM and DVD-R/RW drives natively. If you are using Win3.1 or DOS you can download a generic ATAPI DOS driver.

Q. Where can I get drivers for my NESI SCSI CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, or DVD-ROM drives?

A. The CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM SCSI interface driver is written for the SCSI card you are using in your system, not by the drive's manufacturer. If during the installation Windows can not find the correct SCSI software driver for your SCSI card and you do not have the software driver that came with your SCSI card, contact your SCSI host adapter manufacturer. See links.

Q. Why won’t my CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW drive burn a CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW disk at the maximum speed of the drive?

A. Your CD/DVD burning software will only burn a CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW disk at the maximum speed supported by your CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW media. Be sure to use quality CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW media rated at the speed of your drive. If your CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW media doesn’t support the higher speeds you can still burn a CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW disk at the reduced speed.

Q. Why doesn’t my CD/DVD burning software recognize my high speed CD-R/RW or DVD-R/RW drive?

A. The software version was probably released before the new high speed drives were available. Therefore, you will need to upgrade your CD/DVD burning software. You can probably download the most resent version from the software maker’s website if you own a qualifying version. Otherwise, you will need to purchase a newer software version.

Q. What is firmware and does NESI provide firmware updates for my CD-ROM, CD-R/RW, DVD-ROM or DVD-R/RW drives?

A. Click here for a brief definition of firmware.
NESI updates the firmware on drives that require firmware updates to solve specific problems. NESI does not provide any firmware updates for downloading. NESI does not support any third party firmware updates. Update firmware at your own risk. Changing firmware voids your warranty.

Printers      Back to Top

Q. Where can I find the most recent driver for my printer?

A. Visit Epson’s website where you can find a list of drivers for your printer. Drivers for most operating systems are available.

Q. Why do I get little thin white lines in my print?

A. Generally " microbanding ", as it is called, is caused by the printer’s nozzles becoming blocked or obstructed. You should run a head clean which you can find either on the printers' control panel, or located in the utilities section of your printer driver software.

Q. What is the " little lever " on the side of my printer that has a "+" and "0"?

A. That lever is to be set depending on the kind of paper you are printing on. The "0" is for thin, lightweight paper. Adjusting the lever to "+" will allow you to print on thick glossy, and matte weight papers without problem.

Q. What is the correct way to power down my video projector?

A. You should let the fans run for approximately 10 minutes after you begin the powerdown sequence. It is essential for the bulb to cool down before you unplug the projector.
